5 Things You Can Do Instead of Raiding Your Pantry

Scrounging up a meal made up of whatever you have in your pantry, such as canned beans or tuna, is incredibly hot rn. Here are 5 things you can do instead of that:

5. Eat at Panda Express

A quintet of offerings from Panda Express

With the original Panda Inn re-opening, Panda Express is having a bit of a moment. It’s also always the best option at the airport or mall food court. No airport or mall food court near you? That’s OK! You can always go to one.

4. Make a Caprese salad

This is what a Caprese salad looks like

There is nothing like a good Caprese salad tbh, especially now that we’re entering tomato season. Just grab a tomato, some fresh mozzarella, some fresh basil, and toss it all up with balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and olive oil! I like putting a dash of red wine vinegar in there as well.

3. Make a bowl of plain white rice

This can take 7 years to learn how to make in Japan

Eating a bowl of plain white rice is a perfectly respectable alternative to scrounging up a meal made up of pantry staples. I prefer a 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water ratio, but you can use any ratio you want. If you’re feeling fancy, top it off with a big pat of salted butter or enjoy with a side of instant miso soup or something.

2. Eat a bowl of homemade beans

Beans come in many different colors, shapes, and sizes: just like us!

Canned beans will get the job done, but there’s nothing like a bowl of beans that you make yourself. Add salt to them before, in the middle, or after cooking. Whatever you want. These are YOUR beans. But for the love of god please soak them overnight.

1. Eat a meat stick and flick your bean

A match made in heaven

Eating a meat stick and flicking your bean is a great alternative to scrounging up a meal made up of pantry staples and my personal favorite thing to do. If you’re vegetarian, you can eat a bean stick. If you don’t like bean sticks, you can eat a whole bag of popcorn. If you don’t like popcorn, you can always just flick your bean.

Hope this helps!! If you ever find yourself scrounging through your pantry, you can always return to this helpful guide.
